Pakatan Harapan (PH) Sarawak has been challenged to leave their partners on the federal side and form their own opposition coalition before the 2021 state election.

Corporate Affairs Assistant Minister Abdullah Saidol said the day will come for the people to choose who should lead the state.
“If the four parties (PBB, SUPP, PRS, and PDP) are brave enough to leave BN and form GPS, I now challenge the opposition to leave the present coalition and form a new party coalition,” he told reporters when met after the end of the assembly sitting at the august House, yesterday.

He added that PH being in the office for one year now was rather disappointing.

“I was equally curious and eager like everybody else in the country that perhaps the new federal government may deliver the desired changes as promised and expected. Unfortunately, it has shown that they do not know how to do their work,” he said.

Among other things, Abdullah said people were looking forward to see PH government introduce new and better policies regarding the enforcement of Rule of Law, eliminate corruption, more basic infrastructural development especially in rural areas, reduction of high living costs and improvement of the education system and facilities.

“But after one year of taking over the federal administration, PH’s leaders were busy going around the country telling the people all sort of flimsy excuses as to why they can’t fulfill the changes they had promised,” he pointed out.

He said they should be more constructive in their approach but instead they always showed an obvious jittery and lack of experience in public administration.

“That is why the most frequent response from PH is on blaming the previous administration and at the same time, unable to come up with convincing ideas,” he said.

He believed that many people who voted PH into the federal government had high hopes that the new administration would immediately perform and deliver the necessary actions.

“Led by an experienced Prime Minister, I don’t think the people want to accommodate too much time for PH’s Federal Cabinet to undergo a lengthy ‘tutorial session’ about managing this nation,” he stressed.

He added that the state government wants to work and cooperate with the federal government on common interests that bring benefit to the community.

“But we can’t help to feel sceptical and suspicious because there has been so many U-turns in their decision-making. Foreign investors are losing confidence in our economy when there’s so many flip-flop policies and uncertainties,” said Abdullah.

Therefore, he suggested that the PM to reshuffle the federal cabinet before it was too late.

“Frankly, there’s nothing new yet in the so called ‘Malaysia Baru’,” he said, adding that although there were federal ministers who were being sincere in executing their duty.
