MUKAH: Mukah Cycling Club (KBM) celebrated Sarawak Independence Day by organising a leisure ride here on Wednesday (July 22).

Its chairman ASP (Rtd) Jamil Othman said the programme was supposed to held in the morning, but had to be postponed to the afternoon due to rain.

“This is our simple way to commemorate a significant date in the state’s history,” he said at the flag-off of the event at Kala Dana beach, the site of the annual Mukah Kaul event. About 30 participants took part.

According to him, the route covered Kampung Petanak, Kampung Sungai Alo, Kampung Litong, and back to the highway before ending at Kuala Lama Resettlement Scheme here.

This year’s Sarawak Independence Day celebration was held in Miri, the fifth edition since 2016.
