BAU: Tasik Biru assembyman Datuk Henry Harry Jinep has advised the people here to remain calm and let the police, Immigration Department and other relevant authorities investigate the allegations hurled at the Pakistanis who enter the villages to conduct their businesses.

Henry added that he did not want to comment much on the allegations, and pointed out that the police were still investigating.

“The police have conducted checks on some of the Pakistanis conducting their businesses here and found that they had valid documents such as passports and business licences,” he said when contacted here yesterday.

He also urged the relevant authorities to conduct their investigations and let the law take its course if there were any illegal elements involved.

Meanwhile, Henry has advised the people to refrain from buying certain goods from the Pakistani traders and sales persons if there were illegal elements involved.

“If there is no demand then, there will be no supply. So, it is best for the villages not to buy from them,” he said.

On the allegations of sexual harassment as claimed by You Are Truly Trusted Society Sarawak, Henry advised the victim(s) to lodge police report so that action could be taken by the police.

The NGO in its police report alleged that the foreigners were freely doing business without permits and sexually harassing local womenfolk.

Yesterday, Serumbu assemblyman Miro Simuh wanted the authorities to act fast on those Pakistani alleged to have made nuisance of themselves in Bau.

Miro believed that the NGO allegation could have some truth and could be based on information it had gathered.

He urged the Immigration Department to be proactive and resolve this issue fast.
