KUCHING: The Lions Club Kemena recently received RM20,000 contribution from Bintulu MP Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing.

Tiong said the contribution was made in the spirit of teamwork, noting how teamwork can do so much more for the deserving and less fortunate in the communities.

He said the club often gives wholeheartedly and selflessly in serving the communities.

“From what I have discovered from the incoming president of Lions Club Kemena, they are not made up of only people with great wealth as the ranks of the Lions are filled with those who live to serve.

“Perhaps there are some who think that only people with money can serve in the Lions but in most cases, you do not need money in order to serve.

“If you do not have much in terms of money, you can always serve through the generosity of your heart which is more than enough,” he said in a social media post on Today (Aug 20).

Tiong who is also Dudong assemblyman pointed out that during the COVID-19 pandemic with strict measures in place, there was a need to look for volunteers to help.

However, there were not many who were brave enough due to the fears and risks of getting infected with the COVID-19 virus.

He said this unfortunately led to a point where people were desperately needed to bolster the ranks of frontliners responding to the pandemic.

“I wish to express my thanks to the Lions for extending a helping hand to raise the funds needed to acquire oxygen tanks for hospitals to treat COVID-19 patients.

“I hope that we all can continue to work hand in hand as we can serve our communities better if we stand together,” he added.
