Live stream for Miss Universe Malaysia 2020


KUCHING: The Miss Universe Malaysia 2020    e-gala competition will be streamed live for the very first time this year.

Only the finalists and the panel of judges will be present in line with physical distancing measures due to the Covid-19 pandemic, said a press statement on Wednesday (Aug 26).

The early bird tickets to the e-gala for the crowning of the next Miss Universe Malaysia 2020 are now available for purchase on, Miss Universe Malaysia Organisation (Mumo) announced.

“The pay per-view event will stream live on the Mumo website on this September 5  at 5pm. To purchase tickets, visit this website and register for an account before making your purchase.

“Open to viewers worldwide, early bird tickets are priced at RM15 for purchases made from Aug 17till Aug 31, while tickets purchased from Sept 1 to Sept 5 are priced at RM20,” it said.

Each registered account may only purchase one ticket per user, and 20 percent of proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to Lighthouse Children Welfare Home Association Kuala Lumpur and Selangor.

The Top 18 finalists vying for the title of Miss Universe Malaysia 2020 are Adelina Chan Yin Ling, 27; Celine Foo, 26; Charissa Chong Su Huey, 26; Ching Poh Yee (Chloe), 25; Chua Xing Er (Xinger), 23; Francisca Luhong James, 25; Fung Wei Qing (Quinn), 24; Haylynn Tan Siau Thong, 21; Liew Chi Mun (Gladys), 24; Louisa Ananthan, 22; Neha Varma, 22; Ooi Erjun, 23; Prissha Gerald, 22; Pritha Manivannan, 27; Rindsay Rachelle Laige, 22; Serene Chai Yong Bin, 26; Yaw Mee Mee (Meme), 26, and Yong Meei Yeng, 27.

With the new format, viewers will be able to influence the choice of winners as fans’ votes will count towards determining the next Miss Universe Malaysia 2020, along with the winner of subsidiary title Best In Evening Gown.

Other subsidiary titles to be awarded are Miss La Jung Youthful Forever, Miss Auto Bavaria Elegance, Miss Dermalogica Healthy Skin, Miss Skinz Sanctuary Flawless Skin, Miss Strip Body Confidence, Miss Glojas Beautiful, Miss HABIB, Shawn Cutler Hair Award, Miss Congeniality and Miss Online Personality.

This year’s e-gala will be hosted by local personality Will Quah, and will feature performances by teen vocalist Aqeesh.

The panel of judges will include  actor, director and producer Datuk Hans Isaac;  COO of Glojas by Smart International Aesthetic Datin Selwinder Kaur; medical director & aesthetic medical practitioner of La Jung Aesthetic Clinic Dr Nicholas Lim ; Miss Universe Malaysia 2011 Deborah Henry , Carven Ong who is creative designer of Carven Ong Couture, executive director of Esthetics International Group Janet Chieng , celebrity stylist, founder and creative director of Shawn Cutler Group of Salons Shawn Loong and Elizabeth Lee, the co-founder of Bowerhaus.

As Miss Universe Malaysia 2020, the winner will wear a crown by official crown maker and jewellery partner, Habib Jewels, and will receive the opportunity of a lifetime to represent Malaysia at the Miss Universe competition.

Additionally, she will also receive a cash prize and sponsored prizes with a combined value of RM180,000 and a full education scholarship from HELP University.
