Progressive Democratic Party (PDP) vice president Datuk Henry Harry Jinep said Lidang, 47, from Kampung Stenggang, Bau is one of the potential PDP candidates for the Mas Gading seat and has been active in politics for a long time.

“Before this, he has been following the former Opar assemblyman Ranum Mina, and is currently with Opar assemblyman Billy Sujang and with me.

“However, the nomination of Lidang as the candidate for Mas Gading has yet to be finalised. And the decision lies on the party leadership.

“We will bring it to the supreme council meeting, we need to see and evaluate the response from the people at the grassroots, in Opar and Tasik Biru state constituencies,” he said.

He told reporters this when met during the Gawai Open House 2022 at Dewan Suarah Bau here today.

Henry said most importantly is that the Mas Gading seat is returned in the hands of GPS.

Meanwhile, Lidang, who is also PDP Tasik Biru Branch Exco member, said that he was ready to wrestle back the seat of Mas Gading for GPS in the next general election.

“We are confident because all the grassroots and GPS components in the Opar and Tasik Biru state constituencies are working together, even community leaders are with us,” he said.

He added that he had been visiting the areas under the constituency including during the last State election, by campaigning alongside Henry and Billy.

Mas Gading Parliamentary seat is currently held by Mordi Bimol of DAP after winning the seat in GE14 by a majority of 3,024 votes defeating Datuk Anthony Nogeh who contested under the Barisan Nasional (BN) ticket.
