KUCHING: The state government will continue to support efforts to promote the local fashion industry.

Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah commended organisers of fashion show events which could become platforms for local fashion designers to share ideas and build collaborative works in arts, culture and community engagement.

“It’s good to see local fashion designers having a passion for arts, culture and the community. My ministry is very supportive of such programmes,” he said when launching Rimba Saradise fashion show at Saradise Gallery, in Titanium Tower, Jalan Song here yesterday.

Abdul Karim was confident such events would help to stimulate people to appreciate local arts and cultures as well as allure visitors to come to Sarawak.

“We are looking forward to promoting Sarawak as a city with a soul. Let us make Kuching as a centre of art.

“We are optimistic Sarawak’s fashion designers can showcase their talents and creations to the rest of the world through such platform,” he said while commending Saradise Gallery for its effort in hosting the event.
