Local man busted with drugs worth RM8,190 on Raya eve

MIRI: Police have apprehended a local man for allegedly possessing various drugs worth RM8,190 on the eve of Hari Raya Aidilfitri.

The arrest was made around 12.30am on Apr 9 at Desa Pujut Utama during a Hari Raya Eve integrated crime prevention operation.

Miri police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu said that the suspect was believed to be involved in drug distribution activity in the district.

“Further inspection led to the finding of 56.59g of syabu and 100 Erimin 5 pills with a market value of RM8,190.

“The case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which carries the death penalty or if not sentenced to death, shall be imprisoned for life and face whipping up to 12 lashes,” he said.

In light of this, Alexson advised the public to report any drug abuse activities to the nearest police station to curb and eradicate such activity together.
