MIRI: A local man was detained in a drug bust at a residential area in Pujut here on Saturday afternoon.

The operation, conducted by Miri Narcotics police, led to the discovery and seizure of a substantial amount of marijuana type drug.

During the 12:30 pm raid, police uncovered 28 transparent plastic packets, each containing eleven cigarettes filled with marijuana.

In total, 308 marijuana-laced cigarettes, weighing 219 grams and valued at RM6,570, were confiscated.

Miri police chief, ACP Alexson Naga Chabu, in a statement yesterday, confirmed the arrest and provided details of the operation.

“The raid was conducted as part of our ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking activities in the region,” Alexson stated.

In addition to the marijuana, police also seized a white Proton Exora, estimated to be worth RM30,000, believed to be connected to the trafficking activities.

The suspect, whose identity has not been disclosed, will be brought to the Miri Magistrates Court for a remand application to assist in investigation.

The police are urging the public to provide any information regarding drug abuse activities to the nearest police station.

“Community cooperation is vital in our fight to eradicate drug trafficking and ensure the safety and well-being of our residents,” Alexson emphasised.
