Drugs inside a plastic bag suspected to be methamphetamine which estimated to be worth RM9,800.

MIRI: The local district police has arrested a local man suspected to be involved with distribution of drugs.

A team from Miri’s Narcotic Criminal Investigation Division (NCID) apprehended a 33-year-old man on Sept 22 at 2.30pm at a parking space behind a supermarket at Pelita Commercial Centre.

According to Miri district police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu, when the team wants to conduct an inspection, a plastic bag was seen being thrown from the suspect’s vehicle.

“When they walk up to conduct an inspection, one of the police officers saw a plastic bag being thrown from the vehicle’s front passenger window.

“The officer picked up the plastic bag and looked into it. There were drugs inside the plastic bag suspected to be methamphetamine which estimated to be worth RM9,800,” he said.

The suspect’s sedan vehicle was also seized by police as a case item, and the case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drug Act 1952.

Members of the public are advised to relay any information regarding drug abuse activities or criminal activities in the area to nearby police station to prevent the said activities together.
