AFTER two delays, the construction of the Long Napir Health Clinic will be re-tendered, with a revised project ceiling cost of RM9.523 million.

Deputy Public Health, Housing, and Local Government Minister Datuk Michael Tiang Ming Tee said the Health Ministry (MoH) has reviewed and endorsed the revised cost estimate submitted by the Sarawak Public Works Department (PWD).

He assured that the retender process will be carried out once the revised cost estimate is approved by the Ministry of Economy.

“The Sarawak government’s commitment to improve healthcare for the people includes making funds available through the proposed mechanism discussed in the previous question-and-answer session.

“This will facilitate progress on delayed projects like the Long Napir Health Clinic, which was held up due to a change notice,” he said.

He said this in reply to Datuk Paulus Palu Gumbang (GPS-Batu Danau) during the question-and-answer session today.

During the Sarawak State Legislative Assembly (DUN) sitting in March last year, he said the construction of the long-abandoned Long Napir Clinic needs to be re-tendered as the previous tender price exceeded the project cost ceiling of RM7.3 million.

After a site visit in March 2023, Tiang said MoH requested that Sarawak PWD re-submit a new estimation cost and preliminary detailed abstract (PDA).
