MUKAH: As online shopping has become popular among customers here, lately the under-staffed Pos Malaysia Berhad (Pos) office here have been kept busy too.

New Sarawak Tribune on Monday and the last few days found out that there were always long queues of people waiting to claim their parcels and other things purchased through online shopping.

In the face of the ever-increasing amount of parcels and bags of items received, not only were the staff members stretching themselves to the limit, but even the office space was almost flooded with the stuffs received.

Almost one third of the operation section of Pos premises was filled up with bags or various sizes, while its main collection and claim room was already filled up to the maximum.

Another empty room next door, the former Community Internet Centre or Pusat Internet Desa office, was also used in order to accommodate the daily in-coming stuffs.

It is learned that there were more stuffs from online shopping received by Pos lately, compared to its normal Poslaju items.

To a certain extent, the increase in items coming through the Pos premises, has affected the delivery and claim process as the time needed was reportedly quite long.

It is learned that Pos Mukah currently has seven permanent staff and four part-time workers dealing with collection, sorting, processing claim and delivery as well as other related duties.

Public members are hoping that Pos Mukah will manage its increasing workload wisely including the possibility of employing additional permanent staff for the convenience of all.
