KUCHING: The Malaysian Family Sale Programme (JAKM) being organised by the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP) has attracted visitors who are willing to queue up to buy necessities.

One of the visitors, 20-year-old Ayremeineil Ganya Tommy Pila had waited for two hours to buy household items at the event.

“The kitchen items sold here are very cheap. This is an opportunity I found for the first time, that’s why I don’t mind standing in the long queue and waiting a long time to get these items.

“Chicken being sold here is only RM8, usually I buy a chicken for RM18.30 per packet while eggs grade B only cost RM9, no wonder people will stand in the long queue,” he said when met at the venue here today.

However he suggested there should be a neater and more efficient layout to avoid the crowded areas.

“With this kind of response, two payment counters are definitely not enough, maybe if more payment counters are available, the purchasing process will be more orderly.

“This is only the first day (Aug 5), maybe tomorrow and the next day more visitors will come because it is the weekend and this situation will probably become tougher to handle,” he added.

The Malaysian Family Sales Programme was jointly organised by KPDHNEP and Everrise.
