LAWAS: Flash flood victims in Kampung Long Sukang here received food baskets on Tuesday.

According to a news report by Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS), the contribution was handed over by Peterus Lasung, who was representing federal Deputy Transport Minister and Lawas Member of Parliament (MP) Datuk Henry Sum Agong.

Peterus together with representatives of the Lawas Service Centre and the Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Ba’kelalan main committee members yesterday visited the village to assess the condition after the floodwaters receded.

The residents’ homes as well as their surroundings including orchards and paddy fields were damaged and destroyed by the flash flood.

All the flood victims expressed gratitude to Henry for his compassion.

They also hoped that other relevant agencies would come up with further contributions to help them cope.
