KUCHING: Recipients of the Bantuan Sara Hidup (BSH) who queued up at the Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN) Satok branch here yesterday to receive the financial aid are complaining about the mode of payment for the financial assistance.

According to one of the recipients, she had waited since early morning in order to receive the financial aid but it turned out to be a different situation for her.

“At first, I went to the BSN branch at 7th Mile as I thought I would be the first one. I departed from my house early in the morning. Unfortunately, they informed me that they only distributed up to two hundred beneficiaries for their branch yesterday,” she told the New Sarawak Tribune when met at outside of the BSN Satok branch here.

She pointed out that the distribution of Bantuan Rakyat 1Malaysia (BR1M) previously was more efficient as it did not require people to queue up, because the aid was credited directly into the recipient’s bank account.

“The previous administration was much better, as we do not need to queue up to get our numbers like this, what we did was only sign up for a savings account at the nearest bank and just waited for the date for us to withdraw the money via debit card,” she added.

Meanwhile, an old man who works at a project site here said he could only manage to use his lunch hour to withdraw his financial aid but the BSN counter was closed during lunch hour.

“It is very difficult for me to find other times because I am working to earn money for my family,” he added.

He also said that the previous government was more efficient in looking after the welfare of the people as those who received the financial aid would get it credited directly into their bank account.
