PUSA: Swift action by a resident of Munggu Ruan longhouse in Muton managed to prevent the longhouse from being burnt down in an evening fire.
The incident happened around 8.45 pm last Saturday (May 28) and firemen from Betong and Saratok stations were despatched to the scene, about 45 km from Betong fire station.
The efficiency of Sylvester Enggia, 34, in putting out the fire that occurred in one of the rooms by using a dry powder extinguisher, managed to stop the fire from spreading.
It was reported that the fire only affected the upstairs bedroom in Room 15 and that the flames were successfully put out by its occupant, Sylvester.
The firemen arrived to find that the blaze had been extinguished.
