BETONG: Swift actions by the residents manage to douse the flames that engulfed a temporary kitchen of a longhouse at Jalan Serulak, Serian Ulu yesterday.

A spokesperson from the State Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said that the report on the fire incident was received at 2.50pm.

Firefighters from Betong Fire Station then rushed to the scene.

Upon arrival, the fire was already put out by the residents. After further checks, it was found that the fire only engulfed the temporary kitchen which was also used to store fertilisers.

The fire had destroyed 100 per cent of the kitchen and the cause is still being investigated. No injuries or casualties were reported. The operation ended at 3.49pm.
