KUCHING: A non-government organisation (NGO) voiced its hope that the soon-to-be government to be a stable government that can tackle multiple challenges faced at current times.

In stating this, Federation of Chinese Associations of Kuching, Samarahan and Serian Division president Datuk Richard Wee pointed out that over the two or three years that Malaysia has been through political chaos and instability at the federal level.

“For that, we certainly hope that Malaysia will be able to return to a stable government that can provide stability while focusing on and tackling the multiple challenges along with problems that are happening globally that affect our country.

“Other than that, we also hope that the soon-to-be government is a government that can concentrate on the issues faced by the rakyat and have a prudent and robust economic plan, initiatives as well as strategies for our country,” he said when contacted by the New Sarawak Tribune today.

Meanwhile, when asked to comment on the possibility that the polling day will be held on weekdays, as the head of an NGO he said that as a responsible employer, his organisation will allow the employees to take a time out for them to vote.

“However, it is better that the polling day be fixed on weekends instead so that everyone will be able to exercise their duty as citizens to cast their votes,” he added.

The Parliament dissolution was announced on Monday by Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob. Upon its dissolution, a general election must be held within 60 days.
