MIRI: A lorry transporting diesel worth more than RM30,000 was detained by Marine Police here today (Feb 26).

Sarawak Marine Police Region 5 commander ACP Shamsol Kassim said a marine police team carrying out ‘Ops Landai’ at Jalan Bekenu around 8am noticed the vehicle and stopped it by the roadside for inspections.

“It led to the discovery of 16,000 litres of diesel inside the lorry’s tank.

“The driver, 48, failed to produce any valid documents from the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP) and has committed an offence under the Supply Control Act 1961,” he said.

The lorry and diesel along with the driver were handed over to KPDNHEP Miri for further actions.
