
MUKAH: Narcotics police arrested a lorry driver for alleged possession of drugs worth more than RM1,900 during an operation codenamed ‘Op Tapis’ at 10.30am along Jalan Mukah-Balingian on Sunday (Aug 21).
Mukah police chief DSP Muhamad Rizal Alias said the suspect, aged 31, had two plastic packets and a straw tube containing drugs on him.
“The drugs believed to be methamphetamine, weighed around 19.81g and have a market value of RM1,981.
“The suspect was taken to Mukah narcotics police office for further action,” he said.
Investigations found that the suspect, who tested positive for drugs, is believed to be involved in drug abuse since early June.
The case is being investigated under Section 39A (1) and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
