SERIAN: A team of Kuching Forestry enforcement officers detained a lorry at Batang Sadong Bridge here yesterday after the driver failed to show any documents related to the load of wood he was carrying.
A spokesperson said the arrest was made around 4.25pm.
“We found out that the lorry was carrying 40 barrels of various timber without any marks verified by the Sarawak Forest Department which was an offence under the Section 95 (1) of the Sarawak Forest Ordinance 2015,”he said.
“The total estimated value is RM20,000. The lorry is being kept at the Kuching Forestry Office for further action.
“This is the fifth case in February 2019. Earlier this month, the Forest Department seized 1321 pieces of mangrove wood at Pangkalan Ulu Sungai Daun, Kampung Salak. Last Monday, a lorry loaded with 107 logs was also detained,”he added.
