LPB hands over RM1.8m zakat

KUCHING: Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud received a business zakat amounting to RM1.8 million from the Bintulu Port Authority (LPB) on behalf of Tabung Baitulmal Sarawak (TBS) for the year 2022.

The handig-over was done by LPB’s assistant general manager Operations) Zakhir Khan Yusop during the delegation’s courtesy visit to Taib’ at his residence in Demak Jaya yesterday (July 19).

“We hope that this business zakat can be distributed to the poor and for other purposes such as financing the construction of mosques, suraus, religious schools and helping non-governmental organisations (NGOs) for their activities, dakwah and ummah development programmes,” he said.

Also present were Sarawak Islamic Council president Datuk Misnu Taha, TBS general manager Datuk Abang Mohd Shibli Abang Mohd Nailie, and LPB operations manager Muhammad Yoshikatriezan Abang.
