Lucky escape for duo in bike-car collision

MIRI: Two people had a close shave with death when a motorcycle and a car (Perodua Kancil)  collided on the  Pujut 7 Bridge early yesterday morning.

In the 1.15am incident, a fire engine carrying seven fire personnel from Lopeng fire station   rushed to the scene in response to an emergency alert  to help free  two men trapped in the car.

The State Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief Supt Alexson Naga Chabu, said in a statement the men aged 36 and 33  were  rushed to the Miri Hospital for medical

treatment.

Alexson added the car, which was  heading towards Piasau from Permyjaya,  suddenly  went out of  control  upon reaching the Pujut 7 Bridge before spinning and halting in the middle of the road.  The motorcycle, which was heading in the same direction,  then crashed into it.

Police are investigating the  incident   under the Road Traffic Rules (LN 166/59).
