KUCHING: An officer of the Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) was detained by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) yesterday to help investigate false claims of bus rental and catering services valued at more than RM16,000.00.

According to a source, the 30-year-old lieutenant was detained at round 9.50am at the MACC headquarters here when he arrived to give a statement.

Earlier on, three other suspects had been detained beforehand in conjunction with the false claims of rental and catering services which never occurred during the RMN military shooting exercise in October 2017.

During a raid conducted on one of the suspect’s houses, the MACC found an envelope containing more than RM14,000.00 which was believed to be linked to  their fraudulent activity.

The case is currently investigated under Section 18 of the MACC Act.

Meanwhile, MACC Director Sarawak, Razim Mohd Noor, when contacted, confirmed the arrest but refused to comment further on the case.
