THE population in the Kanowit area has increased and this has contributed to the overcrowding of patients at the Kanowit Hospital, says Allan Sideng Gramong (GPS-Machan).

The facilities and equipment at Kanowit Hospital, especially the hemodialysis centre needed to be increased and upgraded to make it easier for residents in Machan to get treatment.

He said the waiting time for patients to be treated also takes several hours. This situation causes patients to complain and feel very uncomfortable while waiting for their turn.

“I believe, if this hemodialysis centre is added or upgraded, it will make it easier for the residents of Machan to undergo treatment.

“They can save time and travel costs and do not have to go all the way to Sibu just to undergo health treatment,” he said during the debate on the State Budget 2023 at the State Assembly (DUN) sitting yesterday (Nov 25).

Allan also suggested that an Agricultural Product Collection, Processing and Packaging Centre (CPPC) be established in Kanowit.

He explained this could certainly help the farmers or breeders in Kanowit to market their products, thus increasing their income.
