KUALA LUMPUR: The Madani Government One Year Anniversary Programme deserves to be continued given the encouraging response by over 230,000 visitors over the three days at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium grounds here, say several ministers.

Communications and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadil said the highlight of the programme was the Madani dialogue session which saw Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and deputy prime ministers Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof answer questions from the crowd without any restraints.

“I think there has never been a forum where we have gathered with the prime minister and his deputies to answer questions themselves in this unfettered way. This may be something we can continue with during a roadshow series,” he said.

Fahmi, who is also the spokesman of the Unity Government, said when organising the programme in the respective states, all ministries were urged to also showcase the government’s initiatives and achievements specific to the state.
“As the Prime Minister said, the overall cost of the programme will be reduced, but the content of the programme will be enhanced,” he said.

The prime minister when delivering his speech at the event’s final day announced that the programme would continue at the state level, beginning in Selangor in January next year.

Commenting on the announcement, Local Government Development Minister Nga Kor Ming said it would allow the government to better serve the people and showcase all the government’s initiatives and achievements so far.

“We provide various special offers for the people to understand how hard the government is working so that they understand and give support and stand firm with the Madani government in rebuilding the country,” he said.

Sharing the same view, Human Resources Minister V. Sivakumar said the programme was not only important to showcase the government’s performance, but it enabled the country’s leadership to get up close with the populace.

“After one year of administration, it is important to evaluate all the programmes and initiatives taken and implemented under the administration of the Madani government throughout 2023,” he said.

Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Minister Datuk Ewon Benedick, meanwhile, said the programme should be continued because the spectrum of activities provided would draw visitors from all levels of society.
