LUNDU: Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri wants MADANI Malaysia to benefit everyone, including the people of Sarawak.

The federal Women, Family and Community Development minister told members of the public yesterday (Feb 5) that they must always work together and remain united take on challenges that might come their way.

Nancy highlighted Sarawak’s stable political situation, unlike in some Malayan states.

“This is why it is very important to ensure that this stability is taken care of, and therefore, we must work together, not just among our community but also with our leaders, to give them greater confidence to serve the community,” she said.

Nancy was speaking at the Chap Goh Mei festival with the Chinese community here in a parade at Lundu Townsquare yesterday (Feb 5).

She noted Sarawak’s first emphasis is to give priority towards the development of the people and their surroundings.

With the good relationship between Sarawak and the federal government, she asserted that the MADANI Malaysia concept should leave out anyone.

In a Facebook post, Nancy commended the celebration saying that the Lundu Chap Goh Meh parade was a symbol of unity.

Along with the incredibly vibrant decorations on the trucks and banners, the parade that circled the Lundu Market and ended in front of the Townsquare Lundu, had illuminated the festival’s night.

The minister applauded the Chung Hua Lundu Association for organising the event, which has a unique historical significance, in collaboration with the Lundu Chinese Community Organisation.

“Despite the fact that we live in a society with a wide range of racial backgrounds, traditions, cultures, and heritages, I was really intrigued by the numerous performances that were on show and represented our shared togetherness and closeness.

“For the sake of our mutual prosperity and wellbeing, I hope we can embrace this celebration as an example of how to cooperate and show tolerance,” she said.
