MagnumCares continues to give to the community despite the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.

KUCHING: MagnumCares recently delivered food hampers and cheques worth about RM63,000 to villages and deserving charity organisations to four districts in Sarawak.

It said MagnumCares continues to care for the Dayak communities in Sarawak as the state is facing the third wave of the Covid-19 pandemic.

“This year is the 11th consecutive year that MagnumCares has celebrated Gawai with the Dayak communities and others. The team has reached out to 417 families from 10 Dayak villages throughout Kuching, Miri, Bintulu and Sibu.

“We also handed out donations to seven welfares and charitable homes throughout the districts. We understand that the current pandemic has affected many social interactions, businesses and livelihoods, but we will continue to assist them in a safe and efficient manner,” it said in a statement today (June 8).

As the news have shown a spike in Covid-19 cases recorded in clusters, which have been spread among various villages in Sarawak, this made providing assistance more challenging as sourcing and delivery of items to different districts will be near impossible due to limited social movement, it added.

MagnumCares said it has ensured that it will provide food hampers which consist of basic food items that can last for 30 days to families during the movement control order (MCO) period.

“Apart from that, we also hope that the donations can help with the operation cost, food supplies, medical items and even disinfection of welfare homes during this challenging period.

“Although the pandemic has altered our usual social activities and stricken our everyday movements, we wish to continue to assist our communities,” it said.

Meanwhile, Magnum  chief commercial officer Datuk Chan Chee Fai said the ‘Festival of Harvest and Thanksgiving’ must be celebrated with a grateful heart and tolerance while practising proper and strict social distancing.

“We believe that ‘nobody can do everything, but everybody can do something’. From all of us in Magnum, we wish all of our Sarawakian friends a blessed Gawai. Stay safe and continue to embrace the new normal,” he said.
