KUCHING: About 150 participants joined the World Cleanup Day at Kuching Waterfront on Saturday.

This event is organised by Kuching North City Commission (DBKU) and Junior Chamber International (JCI) Kuching branch with the cooperation of several government and private agencies such as Trienekens, London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG), Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), Sarawak Rivers Board, Riverside Majestic Hotel, Grand Margherita, Hilton Hotel and Mommy’s Kitchen.

“This is a worldwide initiative; we want to make sure that the city is a clean place,” said DBKU mayor Datuk Junaidi Reduan when asked about the objective of organising this event.

He also mentioned that he personally believes that cleanliness should be maintained regularly.

“We just want to boost the public’s awareness so that we can always maintain the cleanliness of our city,” he added.

The cleanup starting point was from the Darul Hana Bridge until the Godown Amphitheatre, which then continued at the Chinese Museum up until Hotel Margherita.
