The atmosphere of the procession in conjunction with the Betong Division level Maulidur Rasul celebration

BETONG: Muslims are reminded to continue maintaining good moral character and educating their families and children towards harmony in order to maintain unity and prosperity in community life.

Deputy Minister for Women, Childhood and Community Development Mohamad Razi Sitam stressed on the importance of avoiding the culture of extremism and violating Islamic law in order to preserve the harmony of the country in line with the theme of this year’s Maulidur Rasul celebration, “The Malaysian Family, the Catalyst of Prosperity”.

Razi, who is also Saribas assemblyman, said this at the opening ceremony of the Betong Division level Maulidur Rasul Celebration at the Tan Sri Datuk Amar Stephen Kalong Ningkan Sports Hall yesterday.

Meanwhile, Betong Division Deputy Resident Mahra Salleh, who represented the chairman of the Betong Divisional Islamic Festival Standing Committee (JATAIB), expressed appreciation and congratulations for the commitment of all regardless of religion and race for successfully organising the various programmes in conjunction with the Maulidur Rasul celebration

Among the activities that have been carried out are the Parade/Banner Competition, colouring competition, storytelling competition and religious lectures.

The rainy weather did not deter more than 700 participants from 23 contingents taking part in a 2.5-kilometre march starting from the Betong Sports Complex.

Also present were Betong Division Resident and chairman of JATAIB, Richard Michael Abunawas, Saratok District Officer Haron Hamidi, Kabong District Officer Mohamad Rashdan Hazemi, representative of Betong District Officer Jamain Wahab, Betong Divisional Islamic Religious Officer Mohd Isselahuddin Kameri and Temenggong Piee Alwi.
