BINTULU: The Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Sarawak (KPDNKK) Ministry here is aiming at monitoring around 3,000 consumers with regards to the usage of unsubsidised Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) cylinders in the state this year.
After a routine check at a premises of a wholesale company which supplies LPG cylinders at Jalan Taman Sri Pelabuhan, Sepait here yesterday, the ministry’s district chief, Salihin Den, said that last year 70 per cent of users adhered to the rules.
He said the ministry will continue with the Key Performance Index (KPI) conducted last year in order to ensure that everyone adhere to the instructions given by the ministry pertaining to the usage of unsubsidised LPG.
He also said in order to ensure that the key players in the industry adhere to the rules, regular inspections will be carried out to ensure compliance.
“As for the cylinder valves, he said Petronas provides the same for the subsidised and unsubsidised tanks.”
He added that the differences between subsidised LPG and unsubsidised LPG are just the colour coatings of the cylinders.
“I am proud to say that the public has adhered to the ministry’s instructions even though the majority still choose to use LPG cylinders under 50kg,” said Salihin.
