TELANG USAN: Dennis Ngau has advised students in rural schools to give it their all despite their academically challenging environment.

Well aware of the lack and even non-existence of basic facilities at rural schools, the Telang Usan assemblyman said, “We can use this situation as an opportunity to continue testing and exploring ourselves.”

He added, “Your hidden power is your ability to use the situation you are in and make choices, however limited or small. Try to see in every difficult situation you are in and make the choices available to you day after day and you might be surprised at how many there actually are.”

Dennis was speaking at a dinner to celebrate the success of SK Long Miri @ Daleh Long Pelutan in the Baram Tengah MSSR Championships recently.

He then posed a question to the students, “Are you taking the advantage? Are you finding the positives, the thin line between a successful student or person?”

Dennis commended the good working relationship between the school and the longhouse community led by headman Tingang Pahang.

He was also pleased with the professionalism shown by the teachers posted to SK Long Miri despite the lack of leadership at the school.

He announced a RM20,000 Minor Rural Project grant in response to the school’s request to upgrade and repair its sports facilities.

Meanwhile, Tingang praised Dennis for his commitment towards his constituency, especially the Daleh Long Pelutan longhouse, where he listed several projects Dennis had implemented at the longhouse.
