BAU: Bau Gawai Sales 2019 is perfect platform for local entrepreneurs to promote their businesses and products to the community and visitors, said Tasik Biru assemblyman Datuk Henry Harry Jinep.
Officiating yesterday at the nine-day sales programme, which started on April 27 until May 5 at Lobuh Bau here, Henry said the Gawai-related event is not just to hold activities but also to promote the products of entrepreneurs in this district who are working hard to generate income for themselves and their families.
“We organise this programme with the help of the Sarawak government to provide opportunities for the small and medium businessmen and women,” he said in his speech.
Henry advised the vendors here to utilise this opportunity well to learn making a living out of trade and to get people to patronise them.
He assured that he will bring up the issue of limited parking with the relevant authorities.
Meanwhile, Bau district officer Aniella Siam said apart from the sales of food, beverages, handicrafts and many others, there will also be workshops on handling business for the local people here.
“There are about 50 activities that are going to be held in this nine-day programme such as ‘Say No to Plastic’, Miss Borneo Bau competition, colouring competitions, treasure hunts, boxing matches, e-sports and many more to be named,” she said.
Also present at the ceremony were Bau district council deputy chairman William Ding, political secretary to the Chief Minister Charles Chad Nissom, village heads and party leaders.
