KUCHING: Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah voiced her agreement that Malaysia Day should not be limited to just Sabah and Sarawak.

“Like how we in Sarawak and Sabah celebrate National Day together with the states in Peninsular Malaysia, likewise, Malaysia Day should be celebrated by states in Peninsular as well instead of rotating it between Sabah and Sarawak,” said the Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development Minister.

She further noted that Malaysia encompasses all the states and that the celebration should include every state in Malaysia.

“This in return will help create awareness and educate Malaysians about the full story of National Day and Malaysia Day,” she added.

Recently, Tuaran MP Wilfred Madius Tangau raised a point that Malaysia Day celebration should not be limited to Sabah and Sarawak.

Meanwhile, two political analysts concurred on his view adding that there is a serious lack of awareness on Malaysia Day, particularly among those in the peninsular.
