LIMBANG: ‘Keluarga Malaysia, Teguh Bersama’, the theme for this year’s 65th Malaysia Independence Day celebration, is in line with the Keluarga Malaysia concept advocated by our Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

This was pointed out by Federal Deputy Minister of Rural Development, Datuk Hasbi Habibollah when he officiated at the Community Development Department (KEMAS) Jalur Gemilang and National Month Celebration Programme in Limbang today (August 11).

“If we look at the word ‘Keluarga Malaysia’, it refers to the Malaysian community that lives in peace and unity in inclusion, togetherness and gratitude.

“Meanwhile, the phrase ‘Tegus Bersama’ supports the meaning of strength and unity achieved collectively and sustainably.

“Therefore, taking the spirit of this theme, we as Malaysians, regardless of religion or race, must together face the challenges that come such as the COVID-19 pandemic that has passed and the current economic situation so that the future of the country is stable, glorious and peaceful for the sake of the future generation,” he said.

The Limbang Member of Parliament (MP) also urged all the KEMAS educators and the community to help to fulfil the government’s aspirations and more importantly, become the government’s agents to deliver the ‘true’ news to the people.

“Today, we see that various forms of defamation have occurred and if it is allowed to spread it can damage unity, harmony, and even worse the national economy will be severely affected.

He added that a KEMAS programme which caught his attention was the ‘Jiranku Sayang’ activity.

“Through the greeting cards or posters produced by the children, we have indirectly instilled an attitude of tolerance in the children towards their neighbuors.

“In these challenging times, sometimes we forget to say hello to our neighbours and this activity will remind us of our duty to do good to our neighbours,” he added.
