Male foreigner held for drugs

BINTULU: A foreigner was nabbed by narcotic police team in a raid.

This was after drugs worth RM5,000 was found in a hut near Sungai Kemena, Jalan Sebungan-Sebauh on Monday (Nov 2).

District police chief Supt Zulkipli Suhaili said during the raid a male suspect, aged 40, found at the premises, was arrested around 4pm.

Earlier, inspections in the hut led to the discovery of two small plastic packets containing crystal lumps suspected to be methamphetamine.

“The police also found a plastic bag containing 28 red straw tubes containing crystal lumps suspected to be syabu drugs.

“The drugs estimated to be worth RM5,000, was seized as evidence,” he said in a statement.

Zulkipli revealed that the suspect did not have any valid document and was found negative for drugs.

The man is being remanded to facilitate investigations under Section 39A (2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

If convicted, the offender can be sentenced to a jail term not less than five years or life sentence and can be whipped not less than 10 lashes.
