KUCHING: Tchee Foh Hin, whose son was killed in the CityONE megamall explosion last December, will have a new house very soon, said Pending assemblywoman Violet Yong.

Yong who paid Tchee a visit yesterday morning to view the house said the project was built under the federal government’s “Rumah Sejahtera” programme, on a piece of land given by the state government.

“Only the water and the electricity are not fixed yet,” said Yong.

She said most of the funds came from Stampin MP Chong Chieng Jen and also donations from the public.

Tchee was staying in a dilapidated wooden house on a plot of land which does not belong to him. His son, Kiam Jong, 24, was one of the three victims who died in the mall explosion on Dec 4.

The house has three bedrooms, a toilet, a sitting room, a kitchen, and a proper car porch.

Yong said Tchee is likely to move in two weeks’ time.
