SIBU: A 30-year-old man claimed trial in the Sessions Court today to two charges of raping a teenage girl.
When the charges were read and explained to Yong Jin Fu, he entered his plea of not guilty.
Sessions Court Judge Marutin Pagan scheduled the pre-trial case management to June 15 and released the accused on cash bail of RM5,000 with one local surety.
On the first charge, Yong was indicted for raping the victim aged 14 years and two months at about 12.30pm on April 2 in a car which was parked at Lorong Ek Dee, here.
The second charge against him alleged that he was found to have committed rape on the same victim in a car at the same place at about 4pm on April 3.
The offences are punishable under Section 376 (2)(d) of the Penal Code which carries an imprisonment term of between 10 and 30 years as well as liable to whipping upon conviction.
