KUCHING: A local man accused of smuggling four Indonesians — three men and a woman — into the state was arrested at the Puncak Borneo Prison earlier on Tuesday (May 18).

A Subordinate Court ordered that the man’s case be referred to the High Court based on the charges that would be levied on him.

The case will be investigated under Section 26A of the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act and the Anti-Smuggling of Migrants Act 2007 where the accused may face up to 15 years in prison, a fine, or both.

The accused was charged with committing the offense around 5.30pm in Kampung Bintoka, Lundu on April 20.
