MIRI: A man and his elder brother were detained by police on Sunday (April 18) for allegedly threatening and injuring his wife.
The alleged incident occurred at the man’s house at Grace Hill Garden Phase 2 around 9.11pm.
During the altercation, it was believed that the husband, 53, had hit the 50-year-old victim.
After the fight, the wife headed to her mother-in-law’s house to seek advice but when she arrived, her brother-in-law threatened her with a parang and prevented her from seeing her mother-in-law.
A police report was made later that night.
A Miri Criminal Investigation Department (CID) team picked up the duo to assist in investigation.
They were detained at two separate locations between 11.30pm and 11.50pm. Also seized was the weapon.
The case is being investigated under Section 506 of the Penal Code.
