Man arrested after alleged robbery

SIBU: A man has been arrested while his accomplice is still at large for allegedly robbing a construction worker.

Sibu district police chief ACP Stanley Jonathan Ringgit said the incident took place on Monday at about 10.20am when the victim, 61, was approached by the two men as he was walking home from Jalan Market here.

“One of them accused him of harassing his wife. The victim vehemently denied it,” he said.

The complainant then took out his wallet and showed the men his identity card. One of the suspects snatched the wallet containing a RM50 note and personal documents and fled the scene with his accomplice.

“The victim gave chase and came across two policemen who happened be on duty in the area.

“They managed to arrest one of the suspects. The other, however, is still on the loose,” he added.

The case is being investigated under Section 395 of the Penal Code for gang-robbery.
