MIRI: A local man was detained on Friday for allegedly fondling the breast of a female cashier early this week in Bekenu.
Miri Police chief ACP Hakemal Hawari said the man was arrested by a team from the Miri Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and Bekenu police following a report lodged by the 24-year-old victim over the incident.
He said the incident happened around 9pm on January 4 at a grocery store at Bekenu bazaar when the victim was on duty.
“The incident occurred when the suspect was inside the store and he suddenly groped the victim’s breast,” said Hakemal.
The incident was captured by the closed-circuit television (CCTV) at the premises.
Currently, the suspect, in his 20’s, is in police custody at the Miri Central Police station (CPS) for questioning.
