MIRI: A man was arrested after running amok in the middle of the Miri-Bintulu Coastal Road near Kampung Terahad, Bekenu this morning (Sept 29).

In the 11am incident, the man was seen wielding a machete and an oil palm spear (tombak sawit), and swinging the weapons at road users.

His actions were video recorded, and had went viral on social media.

Several vehicles and motorcycles were also seen turning the other way as they feared for their safety.

According to sources, the 35-year-old man was eventually apprehended by members of the public.

The man, suspected to be under the influence of drugs, was believed to have caused damage to several vehicles on the road.

The case is currently being investigated.
