MIRI: Police here on Thursday night arrested a man from Tudan Phase 6 after he allegedly threatened to burn down his father’s house.

The man, aged 25, was picked up by a team from the Miri Criminal Investigation Department (CID) around 11.30pm, shortly after his 55-year-old father made a police report.

Prior to his arrest, on Wednesday morning, the suspect ran amok inside the house after his mother refused his demands for cash.

The suspect even attempted to hit his sister during the commotion, but his father stopped him before he could do so.

Meanwhile, in another incident in Kampung Tanjong Belipat, a 21-year-old man was also arrested for threatening his family.

According to reports, his parents refused his demands for cash which led him to threaten his mother and sister on Friday morning (May 28).

He also damaged several items inside the family house.

The man was later detained by police less than nine hours after the incident.

Miri deputy police chief Supt Sabri Zainol confirmed both arrests.

The 21-year-old suspect (third left) from Kampung Tanjong Belipat is detained.
