MIRI: A 37-year-old man was arrested on Thursday for attempting to kill his brother-in-law. The incident reportedly happened in a longhouse at Batu Niah near here on 23 August this year.
According to a source, in the 5pm incident, the suspect had fired two shots at the victim but the victim was unhurt.
It was believed that the suspect had used a homemade pump gun and the bullets were marbles. The source added that prior to the incident the victim was at the longhouse to visit his two young children.
However, it was believed that the suspect was furious after he learned that the victim had a quarrel with his wife (the suspect’s sister) on 13 August this year.
Fearing for his safety, the victim lodged a police report on the incident. Following the report lodged, the suspect was nabbed at Batu Niah Bazaar around 11am on Thursday.
During the arrest, police also seized the homemade pump gun used by the suspect. The suspect is being detained to facilitate police investigations into the case.
