
MIRI: A man from Tudan Desaras Phase 6 here was detained for throwing coconut shells at his next door neighbour.
The 31-year-old was arrested by a team of police personnel from the Miri Criminal Investigation Department (CID) around 6pm on Tuesday after a report was lodged on the 3pm incident.
The complainant, a female, aged 52, and her son were in the living room of their house when the accused was said to have hurled coconut shells at them through the windows.
The suspect was also allegedly holding a machete, threatening to harm the complainant.
Worried for her safety and her son’s safety, the complainant called the police for help.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the incident occurred after the suspect accused the complainant of slandering him and his family.
Miri police chief ACP Hakemal Hawari confirmed the arrest when contacted.
No injuries were reported in the incident and the case is being investigated under Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation.
