LAWAS: A man, 29, was arrested in Trusan last Saturday (Nov 7) after he was found to be carrying out illegal logging activities.

Two bulldozers, and excavator and 140 logs were also confiscated by forestry officials, with the total seizure estimated to be around RM121,000.

The Sarawak Forest Department (SFD) said the Forest Technology and Geospatial Division air team, involving Limbang and Lawas Regional Forest Office enforcement personnel, was carrying out aerial observation and found illegal logging activities in the area.

The team later conducted physical inspection on the logs and found that there were no property-hammer mark, Forest Department tax hammer mark and log production identity tag on them.

The seized items along with the man, who is a machine operator, are being detained for further investigation under offenses in the Forest Ordinance 2015.
