MIRI: A man was detained after police found illegal substances believed to be syabu, weighing 51g, on him last Tuesday (Sept 29).
Miri deputy police chief Supt Mohd Sabri Zainol, in a statement, said that the suspect was arrested by a team of personnel of the Miri Narcotics Crime Investigation Division (NCID), led by Inspector Mohamed Basheer A G Sulaiman, around 7.30pm by the roadside of Jalan Bukit, Taman Tunku here.
“During the body search, the team found a transparent plastic packet, which was concealed inside a cigarette box, containing crystalised substances believed to be syabu (51g),” said Mohd Sabri.
Also seized from the suspect was cash amounting to RM521.
Mohd Sabri added that prior to his arrest, the suspect was wanted by the police in connection with drug-related offences.
“An arrest warrant has been issued for him in connection with the offences,” he said.
