KUCHING: Police have arrested a 38-year-old man for allegedly beating and threatening to kill his parents.

Padawan police chief, Supt Aidil Bolhassan said the suspect was arrested at Jalan Mendu here at 3.45pm this evening.

The arrest was made after a police report was lodged by the suspect’s father – who claimed that the suspect went hysterical and threatened to kill his mother and him – at their house in Jalan Matang on Dec 6.

“Also during the incident, the suspect was said to have strangled his mother and hit his father with a plate while threatening them.

“The suspect then sprayed mosquito repellent towards a gas stove, causing fire to spread in the kitchen,” he said in a statement.

The suspect then requested his father to send him to Siol Kandis but acted aggressively and punched his father while in the car.

Worried for his safety, the father lodged a police report which led to the arrest of the suspect, who was also found to have a previous criminal record.
