Man arrested in connection with murder in Mukah

MUKAH: Police arrested a 52-year-old man last Sunday (July 10), just hours after he was suspected of killing a single mother of two at a resort here.

Police were informed that a woman had died in a room at the resort around 12.35pm, according to Mukah OCPD DSP Muhamad Rizal Alias.

“Based on our investigation, at around 1.40pm, the main suspect in the case was arrested by a team from the Mukah District police headquarters.

“He was arrested at a housing area near here, and will assist our investigation into the case,” DSP Muhamad Rizal said on Monday (July 11).

He added that police were informed that the suspect was the last person seen with the victim at the resort.

“The case is being classified as murder and further investigation is being carried out under Section 302 of the Penal Code.

“The 44-year-old victim from Sibu had checked into the resort last Saturday (July 9) with her two children.

“Early investigation also found internal injuries on the neck and left hip of the victim.”
